Caribbean Cup Series Expands

Rogers Cup tournament director Karl Hale, a native of Jamaica, is expanding a series of events in the Caribbean.

The proceeds go to charity. And the tournaments – junior ITF, senior and exhibition – help raise the sport’s profile in the islands.

The newest event is in St. Vincent. The series is now up to six, with a “year-end” championship in Curaçao (winners get a trip to the US Open).

Hale launched the event Thursday in Toronto, raising $10,000 for the Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation.

That foundation teamed up with Serena Williams in 2016 to build a school for disadvantaged children.
